10/1/20 - Sister Emo

 Hello!

Part of my preparation day was moved to today because we had transfers yet again this last Monday! Lucky, I didn't have to lose a companion this week because we simply gained one more 😄 Sister Postma is awesome and we've been loving having her with us. She served for 9 months in Mexico, so she's been having a lot of fun talking to the spanish elders in our district (Elder Lister, Elder Hoffman, and Elder Acor) and planning language study with some of the sisters in our zone to help them. We've somehow only taken one photo with the three of us this entire time, and only because we were taking a picture over Facebook messanger while calling some of the sisters in our zone, but I'll include that picture at the end. We did lose some good friend though. Elder Williams, one of the Zone Leaders, left to go to Springfield (my first area!), and Sister Meade, another sister in the zone, left to go to Xenia (my area right before Northern Kentucky!)

Updates on COVID-19:
We have been informed that we can watch General Conference as a district! (With guidelines in place still) But we can't watch it with members. However, that's still an upgrade from last Conference when we had to watch it from our apartment. Remembering last conference, I was suddenly thrown back to when General Conference wouldn't work on our phone so we had to frantically call our District Leader (Elder Rodriguez at the time) and have him and his companion face the camera at a computer screen so we could watch General Conference over video call. We'll just pray we have better luck with technology this time.
The one other big update we got is that we can no longer do service unless it's through something called JustServe. It's probably to make sure that COVID-19 guidelines are being kept, but our zone currently only has one running service project, and it's one in our area. So all our Missionaries are suddenly shut down from all service. It was a rough update to get, but it could have been far worse, and at least we can still have limited in-person lessons.

This week was a crazy week of fun videos!
- Come Follow Me: Sister Ellis has been doing a fun series of videos reenacting the Come Follow Me chapters each week. Last week they got permission to have her continue to be in them dispite her having been transferred away from her last companion, so I got to join. I was tagged in it on Facebook for anyone who wants to watch it. It was pretty fun!
- Gospel Lab: There's another Facebook series on The Church of Jesus Christ in Northern Kentucky called "Gospel Lab" that was started by Elder Williams and Elder Bigler. It was later passed on to other Missionaries making videos and Sister Ellis and I got to make the very last video, which was a dream come true! I'll be sharing a copy of it sometime soon on Facebook that will hopefully have some bloopers added to it :)
- Sister Emo: Okay, so the video was actually called the Northern Kentucky family, but Sister Emo got a lot of laughs in it. For Specialized Training we trained the missionaries on working with members, so we made a funny video of a family for them to set goals and plan commitments to give to them. We as the Zone Leadership were the family and I played an emo teenager. Everyone thought it was so funny, especially our Mission President and his wife. If anyone would like the video I would be more than happy to share it with you over google drive.

Speaking of Specialized Training, it went SO WELL! President Ensign was a bit hesitant to let us do it because he doesn't do specialized trainings, but he trusted that we knew that our zone needed this one. After it was over he sat us down and told us that he was so glad we did it and he felt that it really helped our zone!

It's been a great week overall! I have some more fun updates, but I'll include them on Monday. In the meantime, I hope you all enjoy General Conference this weekend! It's a wonderful opportunity to hear from our prophet and apostles. Think of a question you need answered beforehand and come to conference ready to look for that answer. I promise you'll find it, even if it's just the spirit that gives you your answer. If you need a link to watch General Conference, go to comeuntochrist.org

Sure love y'all!
