1/13/2020 - 9 months down, 9 more to go!

Hello!

I've gotten all settled in here at Miamisburg, after a few mishaps like breaking a desk...and a lamp...and almost another chair (I've already broken one in each of my other areas. I'm not having the best of luck in the chair department over here.) Miamisburg is up closer to Dayton, near Springfield where I first came out on my mission! One fun fact about the area is that we live in something similar to a retirement home because it's safer. But it also means that we get frequent bed bugs for some reason. So keep me in your prayers that I'm safe from that and don't stay here during bed bug season!

My new companion is Sister Morales. She's been so much fun to be with and there's never a dull moment because she's always talking and always down to do something fun. I spent my first full day in the apartment sick though. We had to call in to our first District Meeting and everything. But I was up and going again the very next day, so all's well!

I hit my 9 month mark of my mission this last week. That means I'm halfway through my mission already! We celebrated by going to Graeter's, a really popular ice cream place in Ohio (And quite possibly the best ice cream I've ever had. It and Blue Bell might have to fight it out to hit number one on my list.) I'm definitely not ready to start the second half of my mission though because now it's a matter of counting down until I leave. I'm still trying to plot how I can convince my mission president to allow me to stay an extra 6 months 😂 I've learned so much throughout my mission, and I'm excited to see how much more I learn the second half of my mission.

Tender mercy of the week!
I've been working at strengthening my ability to plan, both during our weekly planning and daily planning. It was amazing coming to a new area and starting fresh for me because I was able to see just how much I learned in my 6 months in Milford. Coming into Milford straight out of training I felt at a total loss when we started planning. But coming into Miamisburg was completely different and it was such a blessing to be able to so clearly see the growth in me after what has felt like no time at all.

We're teaching some amazing people here, including an upcoming baptism! We also have a few recent converts we're working with, which is super exciting because Milford had no recent converts in the ward. One of our recent converts is the sweetest old woman ever named Georgia. We went by to visit, and when we tried to leave we had to bargain how much longer we'd stay.
Georgia: "Stay just 10 more minutes!"
Us: "How about 5?"
G: "8?"
U: "7."
G: "8 and a half?"
U: "7 and a half."
G: "10?"
U: "Okay fine, 10. But then we have to go!"

Also, we won't be hungry any time soon! We helped a woman move and she gave us all her food storage so we wouldn't go hungry. Then we stopped by to meet a member and left with 3 grocery bags full of food. So we're fully stocked and supplying the Elders in our district with plenty of food as well 😂

And my last note of the week is that today I got to play an official game of basketball for the first time ever and I didn't suck enough for the Elders to want me off their team, so I'd consider that a win in my book.
Basically, I've had a pretty great week!
